Christmas Fun

Things I learned over Christmas:

Everyone must be safely buckled up!

You are never too young to have chores! (Bayba specifically requested this from Santa. She was so excited to receive the cleaning trolley.)

A good pair of boots are to be worn every day, whether or not they match your clothes! (And these boots have been worn EVERY DAY!)

Bed tents, which take 20 minutes to assemble, can be torn up within 20 seconds!

Never assume which child you think will like the Wii better, you will be wrong! (Apparently
Lil Slip will be our gamer. For some reason, Bayba seems a little intimidated by the Wii.)

Mommy and Daddy's bed is the best place for a nap!

And finally.... sometimes it IS possible to get the perfect Christmas card photo!

Water, Water Everywhere

I spent an hour yesterday morning cleaning the inside of the airport shuttle (a.k.a. my van) because precious cargo will be picked up today! (My sister and her family are coming for Christmas)

The outside of the van was SO dirty. But being below freezing yesterday, no car washes were open. At 4:30 yesterday afternoon, in 24 degree weather, Rocket Man goes outside and washes my van! Again, in freezing temperatures! I told him not to. I told him it could just be dirty this one time. But he insisted my sister would ride in a clean vehicle! Rocket Man really likes my sister and is always excited when she comes to visit. It will be a loud, hectic holiday, but the girls will have a blast with their cousins!

On another note, as we prepared to climb into bed Friday night, Rocket Man discovered our waterbed had sprung a leak! So at 11pm he was sloshing around the backyard connecting hoses to drain the bed. The next morning he inspected the bladder, but never could find the source of the leak. It must have been a tiny hole, and he said that's all it takes. So we decided to scrap the water bed and just purchase a regular mattress. Our new mattress won't be shipped until next week, but we were given a loaner mattress until then. I think I am adjusting to the change a little better than Rocket Man. But I think when our new foam mattress arrives we will both like it.

Gingerbread House

The girls and I went to church tonight to join some other people in decorating gingerbread houses. Rocket Man assembled our house ahead of time with glue. I tried to assemble it, and it kept falling apart. Of course he comes home, sits down at the table and slaps it right together!
What would I do without him?!

Know what this is a picture of?

The empty back seats of my van. Yes empty, as in NO CHILDREN, not even their booster seats!

Rocket Man took the girls to a car show today. Which means I got part of the day ALL TO MYSELF.

I went Christmas shopping of course. It was crowded, but at least I didn't have two little tagalongs slowing me down.
And please, no comments about the stains on the seats!

Christmas Decorations

I wish to show you some of my favorite tree ornaments.
First we have Marilyn Monroe

And now some NHL players:

Gordie Howe

Mario Lemieux

Wayne Gretsky

See these 4 Santas? These were fired and hand painted by my mother-in-law. (She no longer has a kiln, so, sadly, there won't be any more)
