5,4,3,2,1...Blast Off!

Saturday we went to Southern Thunder in Manchester, Tennessee. This is a 2 day event where people bring their model rockets to fly. The girls and I went just for the day, whereas Rocket Man was there Friday through Sunday.

Bayba and Lil Slip both had their first rocket. Here they are holding their rockets before going to the flight line.

Bayba was not happy when we left without her daddy. Lil Slip was very tired and ready to go home. She said, "I ready to sleep in the van." We all had a lot of fun seeing all sizes and colors of rockets. And Rocket Man was so proud for his girls to take part in his hobby!

Library Day

Today I took my girls to our local library for Preschool Story Time. I was really impressed, and all 3 of us had an enjoyable time. We sang songs, the librarian read books to us, and we also did something special today. The theme this summer is Bugs. The library had butterfly coccoons that hatched out last week. After story time, we all went outside where the librarian released the painted lady butterflies!
I signed my children up for the Summer Reading Program. They put a tree on the wall and a leaf with each child's name on it. For every 2 hours of reading, the child receives a bug to tape on the tree. At the end of the summer they will have a party for everyone who participated in the summer reading program. I remember going to the library and participating when I was a child. What a great way to improve/maintain your child's reading skills over the summer!

Of course, the library is not just for children! They have many activities for adults also. So if it has been a while since you visited your library, take some time this summer to get reaquainted.

My husband is a big rocket hobbyist. He builds and flies model rockets. He even mkaes his own fuel! This Saturday is the annual 2 day event hosted by HARA, the local rocket club. Rocket Man bought our daughters each a rocket of their own. So we spent this morning assembling Bayba's rocket, and we assembled Lil Slip's tonight. This will be the 4th year that they have attended the big launch in Manchester, Tennessee. But this is the first time they have rockets of their very own to fly! I will take lots of photos to post later.

I do have several rockets of my own, but they have not been flown since pre-pregnancy.

I will have to hunt down some old photos to post at a later date.

Mixed Marriage

My husband and I have a mixed marriage.

That's right, I am an Auburn graduate and he is an Alabama fan.

A good friend of mine (also an Auburn graduate) made a very interesting observation. She says that the majority of Auburn fans have some connection to the Univeristy. Either the person attended Auburn University, or someone in their family did. On the other hand, many Alabama fans have no connection to the University of Alabama whatsoever! Such is the case with my husband. No one in his family has ever attended Alabama, nor has anyone even been to Tuscaloosa! Think of all the Alabama and Auburn fans that you know. Is my friend's hypothesis correct?

In case you are wondering, my dad graduated from the University of Tennessee and my mom is a University of Georgia graduate. My sister and brother both graduated from Auburn after myself.
